Christmas and New Years

I have been finishing up my last year (well year and 3 months) with so much vigor, I have not blogged in so long. SO- this is the super post! I am going to cover Christmas eve up until today all in one. Thank goodness for "tags!"

This Christmas was very magical for our little family. Cameron's preschool was very good at teaching what Christmas is all about. I was very pleased. Also, we had our first real Santa year! I am cheesy- so don't laugh. As usual, we made cookies and read the night before Christmas and sent our happy four year old to bed. Luckily this year, we had no "assembling" to do! Phew! I have ALWAYS caught Cameron's Christmas morning reaction on video- every year so far. This year, since he actually gets it, I did not. I did however, set my alarm for 6 am to get up before him. (He is a very early riser!) Van and I woke up and pretended to be asleep... after I set the coffee pot. When we were ready, I tiptoed into the hallway, shook a bell VERY load, and in a muffled voice yelled, "Ho Ho HO!" and ran back to bed and waited. I heard it all-
"Cameron- "Santa? SANTA!?" He gets up and runs to the tree. In tears my sweet boy is yelling, "Mommy, Daddy he came! He really came! He's real. Oh, mommy, Daddy!" It was amazing. His little voice was fighting back the sweetest tears- It made me cry. He was so excited, he was beyond himself. He found the bell "Santa" left and a note from Santa cautioning him to be a good boy. It was magic!

New Year's Eve my mom and I went to Holly Lake Ranch to have Christmas with Mamaw! I was so happy I was able to make it to see her... and her tree!

This is just a random picture but I love it.

  1. I loved your story about Cameron's Santa reaction! That is one of those moments that you just want to tuck away in your memory and replay over and over and over again. :)

I'm so glad that you made the trip to see Mamaw! I know that your visit meant the world to her!!! She loves all of her grandkids and great-grandkids so, so much! She'll be talking about your visit for months to come. :)
